The SEC Drops Investigations Against Uniswap Labs

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) had launched an investigation into Uniswap Labs about two years ago, but it has now dropped it. The protocol provides one of the largest decentralized exchanges.

Investigation Discontinued

As was initially reported by Bloomberg, the SEC has ended its investigation into Uniswap Labs without any consequence. For about two years, the Commission had investigated whether the parent company of the decentralized exchange Uniswap offered unregistered securities. Allegedly, the investigation also revolved around potential illegal trading activities within the Uniswap app.

SEC Investigations into Crypto Industry

The SEC had been conducting numerous investigations into various projects within the crypto industry and sued several companies, claiming they were unlawfully marketing securities. For this purpose, the SEC had established a specialized unit for digital assets in 2017.

Compliance of Uniswap Labs

A spokesperson for Uniswap Labs emphasized that the company’s activities fully comply with the current legal framework in the US, and the company has always been open to dialogue with the authorities. Uniswap, which was founded in 2018, is one of the leading protocols for decentralized exchanges in terms of trading volume.
