Ripple Co-founder McCaleb Builds Space Station – XRP Made Him Wealthy

Jed McCaleb, who was one of the original founders of Ripple and the XRP project, has a new mission: With the venture firm Vast, McCaleb wants to build private space stations – he has enough money for it.

Jed McCaleb is known in the crypto industry for multiple important projects. He was involved in the successful development and release of eDonkey and also co-founded Ripple in 2012. However, McCaleb’s cooperation with Ripple ended only a few years later due to disagreements, but he kept a large amount of XRP and eventually sold them profitably. McCaleb’s most recent project was Stellar (XLM), where his influence remains noticeable. But even then, McCaleb spoke of visionary dreams regarding space travel.

Vast: Space Project Supported by McCaleb

Now, however, McCaleb is devoting his time and money to Vast, a start-up company that aims to make the building of private space stations a reality. McCaleb believes the era of governments operating space stations like the International Space Station has reached the point where private companies can step in. Vast wants to be operational as soon as 2025, possibly with the support of SpaceX and a first test mission. Vast plans to establish its own station by the end of the decade and offer accommodations for private travelers.

More Information about Vast

Vast has already released first architectural designs and a mission plan. The company intends to build space stations that are modular and expand them according to demand. This allows them to make significant progress quicker than, for instance, conventional space station methods. McCaleb himself admits in his company’s description that without the success of XRP, the financial resources for Vast would have been much harder to come by. Space projects like Vast often run into billion-dollar budgets, as astronomical costs aren’t uncommon for launches and materials. However, Ripple’s XRP project is currently going through turbulent times, while McCaleb feels financially secure.

Conclusion: Jed McCaleb Follows His Ambition for Space

With Vast, McCaleb is pursuing his childhood dream of making space accessible for everyone. As the second largest XRP token holder, he can afford to strategically devote considerable investment to this venture. If Vast does make it to a private space station under McCaleb’s leadership, this could change the understanding of space travel on a large scale.
